BODW 2014: Designed by Hong Kong 4th Episode - Playful Images X Fashion Design

Organised by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC), “Designed by HK” is a series of sharing sessions, as well as the lead-in of Business of Design Week (BODW) 2014 featuring the Hong Kong creative talents.
How big the chemical interaction between fashion and art is? There are an increasing number of large exhibitions and numerous of crossover collaboration between artists and designers recently. Promoting designs by local talents, the 4th Episode of “BODW2014: Designed by HK” sharing session will be held on 18th October (Sat) with the theme “Playful Images X Fashion Design” for introducing the design concept behind “Graphic Airlines” and “Daydream Nation”. Tat & Vi of Graphic Airlines joined force in 2002 and have since become stalwarts of Hong Kong's burgeoning street art scene with their signature, a round face character “Ah fat”. They have also joined different exhibitions all over the world and collaborated with brands such as Agnès b, Adidas, Nike, etc. They will show us their unique angle on "aesthetics of ugly" and their experience in cooperating with the brands.
Established in 2006, Daydream Nation is a Fashion-Art-Storytelling brand created by sister-brother design-duo Kay and Jing Wong who are graduated from Fabrics Design Master in Royal College of Art and Stage Design in Central Saint Martins respectively. Each season, their ready-to-wear garments and accessories tell a new story. Besides, they are enthusiastic to run creative workshops with local artists and indie bands, to inspire designs and whimsical spirit. In this episode, both Graphic Airlines and Daydream Nation are going to discuss the relationship between art and fashion and how to actualize their design concepts.
About “Designed by Hong Kong” Sharing Session Series
From this July to late November that before BODW, HKDC will organise a series of “Designed by Hong Kong” sharing session every month, the designers will be invited to speak for the topics around design of communication, fashion, multi-media, product, etc., this event aims at providing an interactive platform for the promising local designers/brands to share with the audience their design process and success stories, promoting design excellence, championing strategic and wider use of design for creating business value and community benefits; and bringing Hong Kong to an important role in the world through design and innovation.
