Themed "Living Design" is the plenary session I. Save the date now!
Every year, Business of Design Week has partnered up with a country to present attendees with a slew of seminars led by industry experts, many of which are from the partner nation. This year, BODW tickets are slated to sell like hot cakes, since the conference is teaming up with Sweden, a country whose tastemakers and architects are widely considered to be pillars of the design world. To the Swedes, design focuses on more than just aesthetic: it's a way of living life, expressing one's fusion of style and function during day-to-day activities. They also believe top-notch design doesn't mean breaking the bank. Many of the most iconic products (here's to you, IKEA) are cost-effective, sustainable and ultimately, practical-yet-stylish.
Their devotion to creative design is more than just a cultural attitude, it is part of their government's mission statement and vision for 2020: "Sweden is a country characterized by innovative ideas and pioneering new ways to think and act to shape our future in a global world. People in all parts of Sweden can and will contribute to creating value for people, economy and environment through new or better solutions." As Swedish design ambassadors take to the stage and discuss their views on how creative, design-thinkers can help businesses foster commercial growth, it's important to appreciate they come from a country that places innovation as one of their core values. After all, who doesn't want to learn about the newest gadgets and novelty services?
